The Silicone Specialists. Since 2018.

From ETH Zürich research to Munich-based manufacturing partner.

Who We Are

Spectroplast was founded in 2018 as a spin-off of ETH Zürich — one of the world's leading technical universities. The founding premise was precise: silicone is the right material for hundreds of demanding applications, but traditional manufacturing locked it behind expensive tooling, long lead times, and high minimum order quantities. Additive manufacturing could change that — but only with true silicone, not a compromise.

We spent seven years developing TrueSil — a family of photocurable silicone resins that preserve the full mechanical, chemical, and biocompatibility profile of injection-moulded silicone. The result: production-grade silicone parts in days, not months. No tooling. No minimum order quantities. No material trade-offs.

At the end of 2025, we relocated our headquarters to Munich and welcomed Maximilian Eils as CEO — marking the next chapter in Spectroplast's development. The engineering foundation remains unchanged. The ambition has grown: scaling from a silicone additive manufacturing pioneer to a global manufacturing partner, serving OEMs across medical devices, robotics, and precision manufacturing in Europe and the Americas. We are not a generalist AM bureau. We are a silicone specialist — combining material science expertise, application engineering, and flexible manufacturing models under one roof. One partner, from first prototype to full production.

Axtra3D × Spectroplast

TrueSilX50 — a Spectroplast formulation exclusively validated for the Axtra3D Lumia X1 — launches at Formnext 2024, marking Spectroplast's first hardware partnership.

2024

Series A

Institutional Backing to Accelerate

HZG Group leads a Series A round with continued participation from AM Ventures — funding the next phase of material development and production scale-up.

2021

Growth

Shipped to 30+ Countries

Production capacity expands. Engineering teams across medical devices, robotics, and precision manufacturing across Europe and beyond adopt TruSil as their silicone AM material of choice.

2019

Seed Round

€1.38M to Scale Production

AM Ventures leads a seed financing round of €1.38M, backing Spectroplast's ambition to become the global leader in silicone additive manufacturing.

2018

Founded

Spun Out of ETH Zürich

Manuel Schaffner and Petar Stefanov found Spectroplast AG, commercialising the first printable true silicone resin developed during their research at ETH Zürich.

2013

Research Begins

Silicone Meets Additive Manufacturing

Early-stage research into photocurable silicone resins begins at ETH Zürich — laying the material science foundation for what would become TruSil.

Quality

ISO 9001:2015 Certified Quality Management

Every TrueSil part leaves our facility against a documented, audited quality process. From incoming-material inspection to post-cure traceability, our ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system ensures that what we ship matches what we promise — every part, every batch, every time.
